UTi740H+ 400 Professional Enhanced Thermal Imager

Download
The UNI-T UTi740H+ is a manual-focus handheld thermal camera built for industrial and building professionals who need both resolution and reach.
A 400×300 infrared detector pairs with a <35mK thermal sensitivity rating to resolve fine temperature differences, and Super Resolution lifts captured images to 800×600 for sharper detail in reports. The 4.3″ capacitive touchscreen (800×480) makes menu navigation and on-screen measurement quick in the field.
A manual focus ring lets the UTi740H+ sharpen on both near and distant targets — the difference between a usable measurement and a blurred frame when shooting a panel across a room or a connector at the top of a pole. Measurements save as radiometric photos or video, and Wi-Fi connectivity streams live or transfers files to the PC and mobile analysis software. IP54 sealing and a 2-meter drop rating handle job-site conditions, and the detachable 5200 mAh battery swaps in seconds.

UNI-T UTi740H+ Details
Manual Focus Ring for Distance Inspections
The UTi740H+'s manual focus ring is the feature that separates it from point-and-shoot thermal cameras. Bringing a distant target into sharp focus — a busbar across a substation yard, a connector at the top of a pole, a roof-mounted unit from ground level — is what makes the measurement trustworthy. A defocused thermal image does not just look soft; it averages temperature across pixels and understates a real hotspot.
T-Mix Fusion Overlay
T-Mix fusion blends the thermal image with the 5 MP visible-light camera so a hotspot is shown in the context of the equipment around it. Instead of a floating orange blob, the operator sees which specific terminal, bearing, or pipe is running hot — which makes the captured image far more useful in a report handed to someone who was not on site.
Full Analyzer Toolkit + Isotherm + Hi/Lo Tracking
On-screen measurement covers 16 points, 16 lines, 16 rectangles, and 16 circles simultaneously — enough to document an entire panel of terminals in one frame. Hi/Lo temperature tracking automatically marks the hottest and coldest pixels in the scene, and the Hi/Lo alarm flags any reading past a preset threshold with an on-screen animation and buzzer. Five isotherm modes (Auto, Manual, Above, Below, Section) paint a chosen temperature band in contrasting color.
High-Resolution IPS Touch Display
The 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen runs at 800×480, so menus, measurement tools, and the live image are all driven by tap and swipe rather than button-stepping. For a technician working in gloves on a ladder, direct touch on a large bright panel is faster than navigating a keypad.
Radiometric Video and Wi-Fi Live Streaming
The UTi740H+ records radiometric video in MP4 and UIR formats — the UIR file keeps full per-pixel temperature data, so a recorded heating or cooling event can be analyzed frame by frame afterward. Wi-Fi live streaming sends the view to a phone, tablet, or PC in real time, useful for showing a second person the scene or recording a walk-through to the analysis software.
Detachable Battery and Field Ruggedness
The 5200 mAh lithium-ion pack is detachable and charges over USB Type-C, giving approximately 4 hours of continuous runtime with Wi-Fi off; a spare pack extends that to a full shift. An IP54 rating protects against dust and splashing water, and the 2-meter drop spec covers the falls that happen on real job sites.
Choosing Your Model: UTi740H+ vs. the H+ / 760H Enhanced Series
The UTi740H+ and UTi760H share the same chassis, <35mK sensitivity, manual-focus optics, 4.3″ touchscreen, 16-point analyzer, radiometric video, and 30 Hz frame rate. They differ in one thing that matters most: detector resolution. More pixels mean finer thermal detail and the ability to measure smaller targets at a given distance. The matrix below shows the difference.
| UTi740H+ | UTi760H | |
|---|---|---|
| Infrared resolution | 400×300 | 640×480 |
| Super resolution | 800×600 | 1280×960 |
Applications
Electrical Distribution and Switchgear
Loose or corroded connections, overloaded phases, and failing contactors all radiate heat before they fault. Scanning switchgear and distribution equipment locates the warm terminal without contact, and the 16-point analyzer documents the whole assembly in one frame for the work order.
Overhead Lines and Utility Distribution
Manual focus and high resolution let the camera measure overhead conductors, insulators, and tower hardware from the ground. Overheating clamps and degraded insulators show up clearly against the cool sky, so utility crews can prioritize repairs without a bucket truck on every span.
Connector and Splice Hotspots
Splices and connectors are the usual failure points on a distribution line. A high-resolution thermal frame separates a warm splice from the conductor running into it, identifying the specific joint that needs service rather than flagging the whole span.
Motors, Pumps, and Mechanical Equipment
Bearing wear, misalignment, cooling faults, and process-pipe issues all change surface temperature. Routine thermal checks of motors, pumps, compressors, and pipework catch those signatures early, turning unplanned breakdowns into scheduled maintenance.

FAQ's
What is the difference between the UTi740H+ and the UTi760H?
Detector resolution. The UTi740H+ is 400×300 and the UTi760H is 640×480; both share the same sensitivity, optics design, touchscreen, analyzer, and video features. Higher resolution resolves smaller targets at a given distance. See the UTi760H for the other resolution option.
Does it record video?
Yes. It records radiometric video in MP4 and UIR formats; the UIR file preserves full per-pixel temperature data for frame-by-frame analysis afterward.
What is Super Resolution?
Super Resolution enhances the captured image to 800×600 pixels for sharper detail in saved images and reports, beyond the native detector resolution.
Can I focus on distant targets?
Yes. The manual focus ring sharpens both near and distant targets, which is essential for accurate measurement of equipment across a room or overhead.
