R12™ Native 12-Bit ADC — Full Resolution at 500 MHz

The MSO3054HD is built around UNI-T's R12™ native 12-bit ADC architecture, delivering 4,096 vertical quantization levels across the full 500 MHz bandwidth at the full 2.5 GSa/s sample rate. Unlike oscilloscopes that rely on enhanced-resolution averaging or digital filtering to improve vertical performance, R12™ maintains full bandwidth without sacrificing acquisition speed or timing accuracy.

Combined with the industry's exceptionally low 70 µVrms noise floor, the MSO3054HD resolves low-level analog content alongside fast switching transitions, making it well suited for wide-bandgap power electronics, precision analog design, RF troubleshooting, and signal-integrity validation. Optional ERES processing extends effective resolution to 16 bits on appropriate band-limited signals.

Ultra Phosphor 3.0 — Up to 1,500,000 Waveforms per Second

Ultra Phosphor 3.0 combines high-speed FPGA acquisition with 256-level grayscale waveform mapping to expose intermittent faults and low-probability events. Continuous acquisition operates at up to 500,000 waveforms per second, while Sequential Mode increases acquisition performance to 1,500,000 wfms/s using segmented memory triggered on qualifying events.

Up to 125,000 waveform frames can be recorded continuously for replay and post-acquisition analysis, allowing engineers to isolate elusive timing violations, startup anomalies, communication faults, and transient switching events that conventional oscilloscopes frequently miss.

Nine Instruments in One Platform

The MSO3054HD combines nine laboratory instruments into one integrated platform: high-resolution oscilloscope, optional 16-channel logic analyzer, optional dual-channel arbitrary waveform generator, enhanced FFT spectrum analyzer, digital voltmeter, hardware frequency counter, Bode plot analyzer, protocol analyzer, and optional power-analysis suite.

Sharing one acquisition engine across every measurement function simplifies workflow while eliminating instrument synchronization, additional cabling, and multiple calibration cycles.

Deep Memory — 500 Mpts Per Channel

The MSO3054HD provides up to 500 Mpts of acquisition memory per channel, allowing long-duration events to be captured without reducing sample rate. Engineers can record complete startup sequences, long protocol transactions, switching-converter transients, and extended validation tests while maintaining full timing resolution throughout the capture.

Selectable memory depths from 25 kpts through 500 Mpts allow acquisition performance to be optimized for each measurement without compromising waveform fidelity.

Mixed-Signal Analysis — 16 Optional Digital Channels

The MSO3054HD supports 16 integrated digital acquisition channels activated through the optional UT-M15 logic probe. Digital sampling reaches 1.25 GSa/s with minimal loading on the device under test, providing accurate timing correlation between digital logic and analog waveforms.

Mixed-signal triggering and synchronized acquisition simplify debugging where firmware behavior, digital communications, and analog circuitry interact, allowing both domains to be viewed and analyzed on a common time base.

Protocol Analysis — Twelve Bus Types

The MSO3054HD supports twelve protocol decoding options covering embedded, industrial, automotive, audio, and aerospace applications. Standard decoding includes RS-232/UART, RS-422/485, I²C, SPI, and CAN, while optional licenses add CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, SENT, Audio, MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 429, and Manchester.

Protocol-aware triggering, event search, frame decoding, and overlay display allow communication traffic to be analyzed alongside analog and digital waveforms, accelerating root-cause analysis during system validation.

Enhanced FFT Spectrum Analyzer — Up to 4 Mpts

The integrated spectrum analyzer performs enhanced FFT analysis using up to 4 Mpts with frequency coverage extending to 2.5 GHz. Multiple detection modes, simultaneous trace display, waterfall visualization, and automatic or manual markers support harmonic analysis, EMI investigation, clock characterization, and RF troubleshooting directly on the oscilloscope.

Time-domain and frequency-domain analysis remain synchronized within the same acquisition, eliminating the need for separate spectrum-analyzer measurements.

Optional Power Analysis & Bode Plot Suite

The optional Power Analysis package adds six specialized measurement classes, including switching loss, output ripple, harmonic analysis, slew rate, modulation analysis, and safe operating area evaluation. Combined with the optional dual-channel arbitrary waveform generator, the MSO3054HD also performs closed-loop Bode plot analysis for power-supply compensation and control-system verification.

Together, these options transform the oscilloscope into a comprehensive power-electronics development platform capable of measuring stimulus, response, efficiency, and switching performance from a single instrument.

Automated Measurements, Statistics & Mask Testing

Fifty-four automated measurements operate continuously across voltage, timing, frequency, and waveform parameters with statistical analysis, histograms, and trend displays. Up to 27 measurements may be displayed simultaneously, while snapshot mode provides detailed single-channel summaries for documentation and production testing.

Hardware mask testing enables rapid pass/fail validation with configurable limits, making the MSO3054HD equally suited for engineering development and manufacturing environments.

10.1-Inch Multi-Touch Interface, WebServer & SCPI Automation

The 10.1-inch 1280 × 800 capacitive touchscreen supports intuitive gesture-based operation alongside dedicated front-panel controls, mouse, and keyboard input. What protocols are included standard, and what are optional?

Standard decoders: RS-232/UART, RS-422/485, I²C, SPI, and CAN. Optional license unlocks: CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, SENT, Audio, MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 429, and Manchester. Optional licenses do not expire; firmware updates are free over the product’s lifetime.

What does R12™ mean in practice?

R12™ is UNI-T’s native 12-bit ADC architecture — 4,096 vertical quantization levels, sixteen times the resolution of an 8-bit ADC, held at the full bandwidth and sample rate with no ERES averaging required. ERES is available as an enhancement on top of R12 (up to 16-bit effective resolution); on competing scopes, ERES is required to claim 12-bit at all and trades bandwidth or sample rate to do it.

Can I add the AWG and logic-analyzer capabilities later?

Yes. The 16-channel logic analyzer is hardware-standard; activating it requires the optional UT-M15 logic probe pod. The 50 MHz dual-channel AWG (with Bode plot) is a license unlock. Both are field-upgradable on instruments already in service. License unlocks do not expire.

What’s the difference between the standard 500,000 wfms/s and Sequential Mode’s 1,500,000 wfms/s?

500,000 wfms/s is the continuous capture rate the instrument sustains across normal operation. Sequential Mode is a segmented-memory acquisition mode that conditions captures on a trigger event and uses the memory budget to record up to 125,000 frames of trigger-aligned waveforms back-to-back; the 1,500,000 wfms/s figure is the effective capture rate during Sequential Mode operation. Sequential Mode is the right tool for hunting rare or intermittent events; the standard mode is the right tool for continuous monitoring.

How does the MSO3054HD compare to the X-Force MSO3054X?

The MSO3054HD and the MSO3054X share the 500 MHz bandwidth and 4-channel chassis, but they target different work. The MSO3054HD is HD-tier: native 12-bit resolution, 70 µVrms noise floor, and 500 Mpts memory — built for measurement work where vertical resolution and noise floor drive the decision. The MSO3054X is X-Force-tier: 8-bit ADC at 5 GSa/s with 1 Gpts memory and Sequential Mode for trigger-conditioned high-speed capture — built for work where sample rate and capture depth dominate. For wide-bandgap power-electronics validation and small-lab consolidation, choose HD. For high-rep-rate signal-integrity work and protocol stress testing, choose X-Force.
